Bears linebacker Matt Adams was arrested in Chicago on Thursday on a misdemeanor weapons charge.
Police say they found the magazines, ammunition and gun during a search of Adams' car prior to his arrest at 6:46 p.m.
on Thursday. Per police, they initially questioned Adams after seeing him near a car that had been reported stolen.
The report states that Adams told police that the car was his.
Adams is not facing a car theft charge, and it's not clear what led to the report of a stolen vehicle or how it was resolved.
Per the report, Adams has a license for the gun, but it's not valid in Illinois.
It's not clear what type of gun he allegedly possessed.
Adams, 26, signed with the the Bears this offseason on a one-year, $1.2 million deal after spending four seasons with the Indianapolis Colts.
